Why I Built ClassLift

The story behind ClassLift

ClassLift started before I knew I was building ClassLift.

I was working with an education organization and had built its website—the place where families could discover programs, explore opportunities, and see everything the organization had to offer.

As I became more involved in the day-to-day work behind that website, I began to see another side of the organization. Every program families saw online had an operational story behind it.

The hidden cost of running more programs

Someone had to organize the schedule, manage registrations, coordinate instructors, track attendance, communicate changes, answer questions, reconcile information, and figure out how each program was actually performing.

Updating spreadsheets. Checking registrations. Confirming attendance. Sending reminders. Tracking changes. Preparing reports.

A few minutes here and another ten minutes there can become a substantial operational burden. We were spending so much time keeping things running that we had less time to make them better.

“What would help the organization see itself?”

Being busy isn’t the same as growing

As I worked on the system, I discovered something more important than automation. An organization can offer an impressive range of programs, keep its staff busy, and still struggle to understand how well the business is actually performing.

Making administrative work faster wasn’t enough. A system should help the people running an organization understand their business.

What if growth didn’t have to mean more complexity?

I began imagining a different operating model: routine administrative steps happen automatically, schedules stay connected, and attendance, enrollment, capacity, and financial information are available without someone assembling another report.

The goal isn’t simply to do the same work faster. It’s to make a better way of operating possible.

Built from real work, not assumptions

ClassLift didn’t emerge from a feature checklist. It evolved through real operational challenges. Every repetitive task raised a question: could it be automated? Every hard-to-find piece of information raised another: why couldn’t it be available in one place?

What began as a way to simplify daily work grew into a broader vision for managing education programs—and a foundation for organizations to grow with confidence.

Making more room for what matters

The most valuable part of education will always be human: the instructor who understands a child, the staff member who helps a family find the right program, and the people who create meaningful learning experiences.

Technology should support that work, not bury it under administration. That’s the vision behind ClassLift: to make complex operations feel simpler, turn scattered information into useful insight, and give people more time for the work that only people can do.

That’s why I built ClassLift.
